SIXSMITH MAKES IT FOUR IN A ROW
Jane Sixsmith is set to appear in her fourth Olympics after being named in the
Great Britain women's hockey squad for the Games.
Striker Sixsmith, 32, who has made over 300 appearances for England and
Britain, is one of six players in the Sydney group who played in the 1996
Atlanta Olympics.
Kath Johnson, 33, a bronze medallist in Barcelona in 1992, goalkeeper Hilary
Rose, forward Tina Cullen and two Scots - Pauline Stott and Rhona Simpson - were
all in the side which lost to Holland in a penalty shoot-out for the bronze
medal four years ago.
Team coach Jon Royce has also named A Level student Helen Richardson, teenager
Lucilla Wright and Kate Walsh, 20.
Slough utility player Mandy Nicholson, a bronze medallist in 1992 and a member
of the 1996 squad, has been unluckily left out but her clubmate Sue Chandler
will lead the team in her first Olympic Games.
