 OLYMPICS HISTORY
Picture
The start of the 5000 metres (Allsport).

1928 - Amsterdam

In Europe and North America countless editorials were written calling for an end to the Olympics, but the next Games were held on schedule in Amsterdam in 1928, with Germany taking part for the first time since 1912.

The boxing tournament was once again disrupted by protests, but for the most part, the Amsterdam Games were a success.

For the first time track and field events for women were included in the program, although women had previously taken part in tennis, golf, archery, figure skating, yachting, swimming and fencing.
