The Miami Dolphins provided Ronnie Brown with a lead blocker on Thursday, signing veteran full-back Cory Schlesinger to a two-year contract at undisclosed financial terms.
Schlesinger, 34, had spent his entire 12-year career with the Detroit Lions, serving primarily as a lead blocker.
The 247-pounder did not have a rushing attempt last season and had eight receptions for 36 yards in 14 games.
In Miami, Schlesinger figures to be the starting full-back and will have to pave the way for Brown, the second overall pick in the 2005 draft who rushed for 1,008 yards last season.
A 1995 sixth-round pick, Schlesinger has 473 rushing yards and 1,445 receiving yards on 197 catches in 181 career games.
