Super Bowl XLVII blog
David John blogged for Super Bowl XLVII as Baltimore beat San Francisco 34-31 in New Orleans.
0410: All the presentations are done with Joe Flacco - second favourite in the betting - getting the Most Valuable Player award. Bit tough on Jacoby Jones, but there you go.
It is way past my bedtime so good night!
0345: Ted Ginn Jr tries to return the free-kick, manages to dodge a couple of tackles but is brought down and time expires. Baltimore are your Super Bowl champs 34-31.
0341: Sam Koch takes a safety in the end zone to run some more time off the clock and there is four seconds left. It is 34-31 to Baltimore now.
Unless there is a miracle play from the 49ers, it is Baltimore's Super Bowl.
0340: The Ravens will have to punt the ball away so the 49ers will get another shot with 11 seconds left.
0335: That looks like the game as Kaepernick's pass for Crabtree in the end zone sails out of bounds on fourth down. Jim Harbaugh wants a holding call but gets squat from the officials.
0330: The 49ers have second and goal at the two-minute warning at around Baltimore's five-yard line.
It seems hours since the 49ers were favourites but Sky Bet now go Baltimore evens and San Francisco 8/11.
0326: Whatever the outcome, Kaepernick has thrown some superb balls down the field. One or two drops though.
0324: 4:19 left in the ballgame as the 49ers offense comes back on the field.
0321: Tucker adds another field goal and it is Baltimore by five at 34-29.
Sky Bet go Baltimore 1/2 and San Francisco 6/4.
0306: Colin Kaepernick scampers in for the 49ers touchdown. The two-point conversion is no good as his pass sails out of the end zone. It is 31-29 to Baltimore and the latest betting with Sky Bet is Baltimore 8/11 and San Francisco evens.
0257 Justin Tucker slots home a field goal from close range and the margin is back to eight with Baltimore leading 31-23.
Sky Bet go Baltimore 1/4 and San Francisco 11/4.
0251: That is three quarters done and the betting with 15 minutes to play is San Francisco 5/2 and Baltimore 2/7. It is 28-23 to the Ravens.
0243: David Akers misses the field goal but the kicker is hit by a defender so he gets another shot from 34 yards rather than 39. He drills it this time so points off the turnover. 17 points for the 49ers in 4:10 and now it is Ravens by 28-23.
0240: This is incredible. Ray Rice fumbles and the 49ers have the ball back again on Baltimore's 24 yard line.
0236: Sky Bet compilers are beavering away furiously as the momentum shifts dramatically and it is 8/15 Baltimore and 11/8 San Francisco.
0234: The extra point is kicked and the 49ers are all of a sudden just eight points down. It is Ravens 28-20 and now and that was 2:21 between 49ers touchdowns.
0232: San Francisco score again thanks to a Frank Gore run into the end zone.
0231: Joe Flacco sacked. Rubbish punt by Baltimore. Good return by Ted Ginn Jr. 49ers back in this at the Ravens 20.
0228: The meanies at the NFL have reduced the Jacoby Jones kick-off return for a touchdown from 109 yards to 108.
0224: It is almost three hours since kick-off and finally the 49ers find the end zone. It is now 28-13 Ravens.
Sky Bet now make San Francisco 7/2 with the Ravens 1/6.
I hate the phrase but is it game on?
0210: Players are back on the field and looks like we are good to go once more.
0203: Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh not happy with an official on the sidelines. Stressful times but looks like we may have a resumption fairly soon-ish.
0153: Clearly a very interesting dynamic for the game with this lengthy stoppage for the lights. Joe Flacco looks relaxed though as players try to keep loose on the sidelines. It could take another 10 minutes at least before we resume.
0143: Does this mean we can start again and San Francisco play properly? Hope so.
A quick update on the Sky Bet betting with Baltimore 1/12 and San Francisco 6/1.
0140: And it is still out.
0137: I think the power just went out in the Super Dome.
0135: It is going to be bombs away now for Kaepernick and the 49ers as they try and get something going.
0133 For crying out loud. Baltimore score on the kick-off as Jacoby Jones takes it 109 yards for a touchdown. That makes it 28-6.
0127: Beyonce has done her stuff and it is a quick clear up before the start of the second half. Sky Bet have bags of live markets with Baltimore 2/7 to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy and San Francisco 5/2.
Ray Rice heads the betting for Baltimore's first touchdown scorer in the second half at 15/2 with Dennis Pitta and Anquan Boldin both 19/2.
Frank Gore is 7/1 market leader for the 49ers.
0115: Thanks to Beyonce. I'm enjoying this - probably for all the wrong reasons.
0058: That is the break with 49ers kickers David Akers cutting the deficit to 21-6.
Baltimore will get the ball back from the kick-off and they are now 1/4 with Sky Bet with the 49ers 5/2.
Beyonce up next to do some singing.
0049: This is a bit of a massacre as it is now 21-3 Ravens after another shambolic effort on defense by the 49ers as Joe Flacco hits Jacoby Jones deep for another touchdown.
0035: What were the Ravens thinking there? Faked the field goal and kicker Justin Tucker tries to run for the first down but comes up shy so the ball is back in the hands of the 49ers - but they will be inside their own 10-yard line.
It is 8/13 Baltimore and 6/5 San Francisco with the Ravens 14-3 up.
It has all gone off as well in the middle of the field after Ed Reed picks off Kaepernick.
0022: Baltimore capitalise on the 49ers turnover to stick another touchdown on the board. 14-3 Ravens. Errors from San Francisco have been the key so far.
0015: First turnover of the game goes to Baltimore as LaMichael James fumbles the ball. Tha latest betting sees Baltimore evens and San Francisco 11/10 with Sky Bet.
0005: End of the first quarter with the last play a sack of Joe Flacco that knocks the Ravens out of field goal range. 7-3 Ravens.
0000: Ravens safety Ed Reed has headed to the locker room for teatment on a knee injury.
2354: Good drive from the 49ers ends in a sack for Colin Kaepernick and a field goal converted by David Akers. Ravens 7-3.
2341: All those on Anquan Boldin for the first touchdown scorer can go collect. Ravens 7-0.
2336: No joy on San Francisco's first possession - check out all the Sky Bet live betting markets!
2332: We are under way! Don't forget you can get in touch with me at firstname.lastname@example.org or on Twitter @SLifeDaveJohn.
2327: Ray Lewis even looks completely nuts at the coin toss. Ravens win it and will defer receiving the ball until the second half.
2325: I am informed that Alicia Keys stretched the Star Spangled Banner out to around two minutes 30 seconds. Long enough to have some of the Ravens bench in tears already.
2322: Start the stopwatches for the length of the National Anthem.
2321: Good vocals from Jennifer Hudson. Not as good as her figure-hugging jumper though.
2315: We have still got to get through some more pre-game rigmarole plus the National Anthem but those of you looking for an early bet should have a look at the first offensive play market with Sky Bet - a run is 5/6 and a pass even money.
2312: The teams are out on the field having been introduced to the crowd. There certainly seems to be more Ravens fans in the Superdome. Noisy too.
2305: Nice guest analyst for the Beeb - three-time Super Bowl winner Willie McGinest alongside the excellent Mike Carlson.
2300: Sky Bet's American football trader Ben Wright has just told me that there has been a flood of money today for Baltimore as punters get stuck into the underdogs. He is cheering for the 49ers as well as me so we are both singing from the same hymn sheet tonight.
2250: Around 40 minutes or so until kick-off drop me a line with your game predictions at email@example.com. My first can of diet coke consumed already.
2220: It is about 10 minutes until the Sky broacast starts - but looking at a few pictures already of the stars at the game and they include Will Ferrell, former Super Bowl winner Kurt Warner and some geezer with 'Ravens' tattooed on the back of his head.
2145: Good evening and welcome along to our coverage of Super Bowl XLVII tonight.
And what a cracker it is. Will it be a triumphant farewell for Baltimore linebacker Ray Lewis or will it be the youthful Colin Kaepernick with a stellar career ahead of him who leads San Francisco to Super Bowl number six?
I am all over the 49ers and you can check out my preview right here but I want to get your thoughts on how things will play out and who you have all backed.
Drop me a line throughout the night at firstname.lastname@example.org - give me your opinions as well on the season - highs, lows who has impressed, who has disappointed - anything to be honest!
We will have plenty of betting updates too and here are all the latest markets on the game from Sky Bet as well as some special bets for those of you so inclined to bet on the length of the National Anthem!
