Greg Zuerlein: Kicked 54-yard overtime clincher

Zuerlein had been on target from 53 yards as time expired at the end of a wild fourth quarter to force overtime.

The 49ers led 10-2 and were eating clock deep in their own territory with just over three minutes remaining when quarterback Colin Kaepernick's pitch-out went awry and Rams cornerback Janoris Jenkins was able to scoop it up and dive into the end zone.

St Louis added the two-point conversion on a Sam Bradford pass to Lance Kendricks to level things at 10-10 before San Francisco kicker David Akers landed a 33-yard field goal with one minute and 34 seconds remaining to edge the visitors back in front at the Edward Jones Dome.

Akers missed wide right - only just - from 51 yards with four minutes and 11 seconds remaining in overtime.

With a second tie between these NFC West rivals in three weeks looming, Zuerlein settled matters in the Rams' favour with his seventh 50-yard plus field goal of the season.

San Francisco remain top of the division at 8-3-1, while third-placed St Louis improve their record to 5-6-1.
