Double Paralympic swimming champion Eleanor Simmonds visited the London 2012 aquatics centre for the first time on Tuesday, and said: "Hopefully, in three years this is where I might get a few more medals."
Simmonds, 14, broke off briefly from training for the European Championships in nine weeks, to see the venue in Stratford, east London.
She said she was "amazed" by how big the framework for the nearly-completed, wave-shaped roof is and will be telling her team mates in Swansea about "how impressive it all is - it is massive".
She said: "I have been taking lots of pictures and will be showing them all what they can look forward to.
"The Beijing Paralympics was a year ago and this year seems to have gone so fast. Three years to go is a still a long time away but I'm sure it will also go quickly.
"The whole British team has its goal to aim for but competing in your home country, in front of all your own supporters will be special.
"I am so looking forward to it."
Simmonds, originally from Walsall but now based in Swansea, won gold in the 100 metre and 400m free-style in Beijing.
Her 100m victory saw her become Britain's youngest-ever individual Paralympic gold medallist at the age of 13.
She was born with Achondroplastia or dwarfism.
