South African Trevor Immelman experienced bitter disappointment on the US Tour for the second week running on Sunday.

Having lost the Wachovia Championship in a play-off to Jim Furyk after three-putting the final green, Immelman came to the last hole of the Byron Nelson Championship in Texas trailing American Brett Wetterich by one.

But hopes of victory were ended when he slightly pulled his drive and saw it bounce into the lake.

Immelman, who had bogeyed the 15th to fall behind, saved par with a brilliant 167-yard third to seven feet, but it was not enough and so he finished second again.

Wetterich, who took last place at last December's qualifying school and is ranked only 208th in the world, claimed his first title with a closing two-under-par 68 and 12-under total of 268.

Luke Donald, eighth with a round to go, lost his chance when he bogeyed the ninth and 10th, but then birdied the 13th and 14th and made an eagle putt of nearly 20 feet on the long 16th to climb into a tie for sixth spot.

Londoner Brian Davis was joint eighth a stroke further back on seven under following a 65.

Australian Adam Scott, who shared the 54-hole lead with Immelman, had a 71 and was third for the second successive Sunday.
