Justin Leonard won for the first time in nearly two years by overhauling
long-time leader Joe Ogilvie in the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.
England's Ian Poulter finished with a one-under-par 71, his worst round of the
90-hole event, to share eighth place on 22-under 338.
That was six shots behind Leonard, who posted a five-under-par 67 to win for
the first time since the 2003 Honda Classic.
Leonard, who staring the final day three shots behind leader Ogilvie, birdied
three of the first four holes and started the back nine with a pair of birdies
to take command.
Ogilvie, chasing his first PGA Tour victory, fell apart with bogeys on two of
his first three holes and, after a double-bogey on 10, could not recover. He
shot 73 and tied Tim Clark for second place, three behind Leonard.
Poulter started badly with bogeys at the par-three third and fifth holes. He
had five birdies but dropped further shots at the 10th and 12th, another
par-three.
His round was eight shots worse than the 63 he carded over the same PGA West
course on Saturday.
Defending champion Phil Mickelson shot a 71 and finished tied for 12th at 21
under.
