Andre Stolz claimed his first PGA Tour title with a bogey-free five-under-par
67 to capture the Michelin Championship at the TPC at Summerlin.
A 34-year-old from Australia, Stolz won £400,000 and earned a two-year
exemption in his 21st start on the tour.
His total of 21-under 266 was one stroke better than rookie Tag Ridings,
Harrison Frazar and Tom Lehman.
Stolz's best finish this season was a tie for 34th at the HP Classic of New
Orleans and he came in ranked 217th on the money list with £49,236 - nowhere
near the top 125, who receive one-year exemptions.
Ridings began the final round tied for 54th but shot a tournament-record
bogey-free 11-under 61 to get within one shot of a play-off.
Frazar, who began his season with a second at the Sony Open in Hawaii, also
shot a 67 despite a bogey on the 10th hole.
Lehman was gunning for his first win since the 2000 Phoenix Open. But after
chipping within three feet of the pin on the 17th, he rimmed his par putt and
dropped to 19 under. He birdied 18 and joined Frazar and Ridings in second
place.
Dicky Pride and Carl Pettersson finished two shots back at 19-under 268.
Pride's tee shot at the 18th ended up near some rocks off the left side of the
fairway, leading him to slam his cap to the turf in anger.
Lee Janzen, Danny Ellis, Tim Petrovic and David Frost were three shots off the
pace at 18 under. Frost fired a 10-under 62, which included an eagle at the
third hole.
