American veteran Scott Hoch survived a bogey at the final hole to claim a
one-shot victory at the Greater Greensboro Classic in North Carolina.
The 45-year-old fired a closing-round three-under-par 69 to secure his ninth
USPGA Tour title with a tournament record 16-under-par 272 total.
"I really hit it well all week," said Hoch, who was winning for the first
time since 1997.
"I drove it well and that's really the strength of my game, to keep it in
play. And I was fortunate to just do well enough.
"I was a little shaky out there early on, I was too tentative, and even
towards the end I was a little tender.
"I felt good hitting the ball, but I was little shaky with the putter.
Fortunately I made a few good strokes and got a bit of a cushion, which felt
good."
Brett Quigley (67) and Scott Simpson (68) were tied for second.
Sweden's Gabriel Hjertstedt closed with a 69 to finish in a five-way tie for
fourth on 13 under alongside South Korea's K J Choi (67), Jeff Maggert (69),
David Berganio (71) and Jerry Kelly (71).
Rochdale-born Edward Fryatt dropped back to joint-29th after a 73 left him on
seven under.
