Toms claimed this title back in 2001 at Atlanta Athletic Club, his circumspect approach on the last hole when laying up paying dividends as his 10-foot par putt finally saw off the threat of Phil Mickelson. That remains his only major title to date but few would argue he does not have the ability to double that tally this week if bringing his ‘A’ game to the table. He's played well in the first two US Majors of the season, finishing ninth at Augusta and fifth at Oakmont and has built a consistent record in the year's final major, making the top 17 for the last three seasons. On the downside he could only manage tied 66th in the 2001 US Open held at Southern Hills.
