USPGA PROFILE

Very much a big-game player, the unflappable South African tends to find his best form around major time. Won't be short of confidence heading into the fourth and final major of the year as he clinched the first of his two US Open titles at Southern Hills in 2001 when he beat Mark Brooks in a play-off. However, his record in the USPGA is nothing to write home about, 2005 apart when he tied for sixth at Baltusrol. Started the season in decent form by winning in Qatar and also tied for second at the Masters back in April having led going into Amen Corner, but has been rather subdued of late having missed the cut at Oakmont and faded after a bright start at the Open Championship when he tied for 23rd. While his form might not have many rushing to back him, given his record at Southern Hills he cannot be discounted if he is somewhere close to his consistent best.
