The big-hitting Argentine had never really done justice to his obvious talents but he changed that perception by capturing the US Open at Oakmont back in June. While his rivals were battered into submission by the fiendishly difficult par 70, Cabrera somehow twice shot under par and that was good enough to give him a one-shot win over Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk. Intriguingly, he also has form at Southern Hills having finished seventh in the 2001 US Open held there. Until this year, that was his best US Open finish so he likes the track and could be right up there again.
