TRIO'S TREE TRAUMA

A television worker broke his left leg and two others were less seriously hurt when a large limb of a tree snapped and fell as Tiger Woods was playing his second round in the USPGA championship.

The broken leg victim, who was operating a boom microphone under the tree, was taken to hospital, while an assistant technician and a 60-year-old spectator were released after treatment on site for leg and arm injuries respectively.

The red oak on the fourth hole had been inspected prior to the start of the event, but was to be removed at the completion of the day's play at Baltusrol in New Jersey.
