USPGA PROFILE
Els suffered major heartbreak for the second time in 2004 when he had to settle for a runner's-up berth at the Open Championship at Troon when pipped in a play-off by Todd Hamilton. He arrives at Whistling Straits among the favourites as always and the links-style course will undoubtedly be in his favour as he thrives when it comes to that particular style of golf. There would be no more deserving winner of a major title if the South African can get his hands on the trophy come Sunday evening.
