Phil Mickelson (66): "I don't feel I tried to stay off the radar. I wanted to have a little time to myself to get things going around. And a number of things went well today."
Rodney Pampling (66): "I was just hitting the driver really solid and the fact that I didn't make a bogey, that's definitely a bonus. Any time you can do that in a major is certainly going to hold you in a good position."
Ernie Els (71): "I was disappointed to finish with a bogey but one over's not too bad. I felt I played a lot better than that out there."
Padraig Harrington (72): "I suppose I must have been a bit rusty out there because all my dropped shots were on the front nine but it was great to finish with a birdie at 17 and I almost did it on 18. That would have been some finish."
Lee Westwood (73): "I felt I played very solidly. It's not easy out there - start missing fairways and you can run up some big
scores."
Tiger Woods (74): "I just didn't drive very well and put myself under a lot of
pressure because of it. It didn't matter what club I hit off the tee - I couldn't keep in play."
Paul Casey (79): "I was looking forward to it, but didn't didn't play well and that's much
more annoying. I hit only one fairway with my driver and you can't do that."
Colin Montgomerie (82): "I missed too many fairways. Six pars were good, but 12 bogeys were not so
good. Never mind - try again tomorrow."
