USPGA PROFILE
The Canadian first marked himself down as a big-time player when holding the lead going into the final round of the 1999 USPGA at Medinah. He collapsed on that occasion, shooting an 80 when in the company of Tiger Woods but Weir finally realised his potential by winning the US Masters earlier this season. Weir's big breakthrough came after two early season wins so 2003 has been a career year for the left-hander. As well as that hat-trick of victories, Weir also finished tied third in the US Open so, with his unflappable temperament, he looks like being a Major contender for years to come. A second Major of 2003 is well within his reach.
