Toms took his place among the golfing elite by winning the USPGA Championship at Atlanta Country Club in 2001. To followers of the man from Louisiana it didn't come as a shock. The 36-year-old has been one of the most improved players in the game over the last few years, notching up nine US Tour wins. Two missed cuts on the bounce are hardly a glowing recommendation but his game had looked in good shape prior previously and is the sort of player who can bounce back if getting into the groove at an event.
