USPGA PROFILE
Perry has enjoyed an extraordinary summer and goes into the USPGA as a genuine contender. Back-to-back wins at Colonial and The Memorial and another win at the Greater Milwaukee Open have taken his earnings to just under $4million. The 43-year-old from Kentucky has also taken his hot form into the Majors. In the US Open he raced through the field to finish tied third and at the British Open he had a live chance of victory before finally finishing tied eighth. The wise money says the USPGA is Perry's best chance of joining the Majors club and he so nearly won it in 1996. On that occasion he went up to the TV tower after his round rather than prepare for a possible play-off and it proved costly as Mark Brooks beat him at the first extra hole. He won't make that mistake again.
