| The 1997 British Open at Troon remains Leonard's only major but several times he's gone close to adding the USPGA crown. Six years ago only an inspired Davis Love got the better of him and last year he held a three-shot lead going into the final round before an uncharacteristic collapse in round four left him tied fourth. As a former US amateur champion and Players Championship winner, Leonard has the game and temperament for the big events and is usually on the shortlist for the year's final Major. His very latest form is rather patchy but he's a winner this year and also went close to breaking 60 when second at Colonial. |
