USPGA PROFILE
The work Sergio Garcia has decided to undertake on his swing mechanics is gradually starting to pay dividends. He contended superbly for three days at the Open Championship but could not get anything going on the final day and back-pedalled down the leaderboard. Who will ever forget his relentless pursuit of Tiger Woods at this event back in 1999 when the cavalier young Spaniard made the world number one pull out all the stops. It will surely only be a matter of time before Garcia has a Major title of his own and it is not hard to envisage him playing a prominent role in proceedings this week. Interestingly, Garcia was a losing semi-finalist at this venue in the 1998 US Amateur Championship.
