USPGA PROFILE
Four missed cuts in five USPGA starts is hardly encouraging but Clarke shouldn't be ruled out. The Ulsterman has already shown he can beat the very best by sinking Tiger Woods in the final of the 2000 World Match Play. And he's contended in Majors too, going close in several British Opens. He also led this year's Masters after the first round although, as has happened too often with Clarke in recent times, he failed to go through with his effort. Despite his string of USPGA failures, he can boast a top ten in 2000 and he may take inspiration from the fact that it was at Oak Hill where fellow Irishman Philip Walton won Europe the Ryder Cup.
