USPGA PROFILE
After an 11-month barren spell, Clarke splashed his way to a three-stroke victory in the Compass Group English Open at the start of June. He then put up a solid performance in the US Open before recording further top 30 finishes in the Murphy's Irish Open, the Smurfit European Open and the Barclays Scottish Open. However Clarke's tied 37th in the Open was a disappointment given his liking for links golf so he will want to put on a big show here. Most of his USPGA performances have been woeful with three missed cuts out of four but on the one occasion he made it to the weekend he finished in ninth place. If he can get off to a good start, he has the game to challenge Tiger Woods but he has to make sure he doesn't get too flustered in the heat.
