Time seems to be running out for Monty as he bids to land a deserved first major. In truth he hasn't got seriously close since his US Open second place in 1997, although he did finish tied sixth in the USPGA at Medinha in 1999. Prior to that he lost play-offs at the 1994 US Open and the 1995 USPGA. The former seven-time European number one has lost some of his legendary consistency but despite battling with a troublesome back he's produced some fine performances this season - finishing second twice as well as posting three other top sixes. Monty fits the bill of a USPGA winner as he's in his thirties and looking for a first major but whether he can finally reach the promised land remains in doubt.
