USPGA PROFILE
Garcia first gave note that he could become a serious contender in majors after giving Tiger Woods the fright of his life at the 1999 USPGA at Medinah. Playing some inspired golf down the stretch Garcia got to within a shot of Woods before finishing a brave second. For the last couple of seasons he's contended in just about every major he's lined up in and this season he's made the top ten in all three. Having started to solve his re-gripping problems, Garcia arrives at the USPGA as one of the favourites and his long, staright driving should help him considerably at Hazeltine. He looks Europe's best chance of taking the title.
