US OPEN PROFILE
The quiet South African boasts a US Open record to match any of today's stars with both his Major victories coming in the June showpiece. The Goose struggled with missed cuts in his early appearances but came good in 2001 when he beat Mark Brooks in a play-off at Southern Hills 24 hours after missing a two-foot putt that would have earned victory after 72 holes. Goosen proved to be no one-hit wonder by claiming a second crown three years later with a heroic two-shot victory over Phil Mickelson at Shinnecock Hills. Though his only victory in 2007 came at the Qatar Masters, Goosen led the US Masters going into Amen Corner on Sunday afternoon before succumbing to the late charge of Zach Johnson. A big-time player with determination to succeed in the toughest of conditions.
