| The mercurial Allenby arrives at Oakmont with little to recommend him really on recent form after a blistering start to 2007 but he has shown in the past he is well capable of delivering a big week when seemingly not in great nick. It is amazing to think that he has gone six years on the PGA Tour without a win but his amazing treble of the Australian Open, PGA and Masters over consecutive weeks in 2005 highlights the calibre of golf he can produce. Allenby has recorded some solid efforts at the US Open over the last few years and he could not be ruled out totally if the mood takes him. |
