The Canadian made his breakthrough on the Major front with victory in the 2003 Masters and his efforts at the last two US Opens suggests his game is well suited to the extremely testing set-up. A flurry of missed cuts since Augusta in April has not been the ideal build-up for Pinehurst No.2 but Weir is a player for the big occasion and could well shake off that malaise.
