Toms comes into the event as one of the real in-form players having notched three excellent finishes in the build up. His form dipped somewhat after he romped to victory in the WGC Match Play at La Costa but the Louisiana native is back firing on all cylinders and a bold show looks a distinct possibility. Patient and very rarely flustered, he has has the ideal temperament for a US Open and it would not be the biggest shock to see him add to his one major crown at Pinehurst No.2.
