US OPEN PROFILE
The Big Easy has two US open titles to his credit but it has now been eight years since his victory at Congressional. He was right in position last year at Shinnecock Hills but struggled on a brutal final day and could only manage a hugely disappointing round of 80. He has been in better form on the European Tour (three wins) than in America to date during 2005 but it is not difficult seeing an on-song Els having a major say in the outcome.
