US OPEN PROFILE
Appleby made the perfect start to 2005 when he successfully defended his Mercedes Championship title in Hawaii. His form in the first half of the year though has been pretty modest overall for a player of his calibre although he did record a top ten finish at last week's Booz Allen Classic. However, confidence has to be dampened by a recent US Open record which shows five missed cuts in his last six attempts.
