DONALD PAIRED WITH WOODS
Tiger Woods, Chris DiMarco and Britain's Luke Donald - first, second and third
in the Masters in April - have been paired together for the opening two rounds
of the US Open at Pinehurst next Thursday and Friday.
Woods beat DiMarco in a play-off for his fourth victory at Augusta, while
Donald produced a spectacular back nine including two eagles to take third spot
on his debut.
They will tee off at 7.44am in the first round and will do so from the 10th
tee, just ahead of Donald's World Cup-winning partner Paul Casey.
Padraig Harrington is among the later starters and he will partner current
world number one Vijay Singh and American Bart Bryant, winner of last week's
Memorial Tournament.
Colin Montgomerie, who squeezed into the event at 50th in the world last week,
has Americans Tim Herron and twice winner Lee Janzen for company.
England's Jonathan Lomas, joint winner of the first qualifier ever to be
staged in Europe on Monday, is in the very first group out at 7am, while Ernie
Els has to wait only until 7.22 to start.
He partners Justin Leonard and Shigeki
Maruyama.
