Vijay Singh (63): "I played really well. I hit a lot of drivers out there. That wasn't my plan when I started off on Monday or at practice, but I started to swing a lot better and the ball was kind of going where I was aiming so I said why not go ahead and be aggressive on the golf course and I shot a good number. It would feel better if I did it (shot 63) on Sunday. There's two more days to go. I'm going to focus on what I'm going to do tomorrow and try to forget this round."
Woody Austin (64): "After the three-putt on the first hole I settled myself down. I just put the ball exactly where I was supposed to put it on the greens. I didn't make any downhill sliders. I put the ball below the hole and I had so many chances all day."
Nick Price (65): "I hit the ball really well today. I hit a lot of fairways, probably hit 15 greens if you include one fringe, so it was a day really set up by my ball striking. I made some great putts. You've got to do everything well to shoot 65 at the Open and I did today."
Jim Furyk (66): "I'm happy with my position. I played a really solid round - probably my best so far in the Open. It would have been nice to make a couple more and the opportunity was there, but I just want to continue with how I'm playing."
Tiger Woods (66): "I think this tournament has been fairer than we've seen in the past with the setup. It's not as severe. A lot of it is just because it's softer. If this golf course was baked out, you wouldn't see these scores."
Jonathan Byrd (66): "I'm young, it's my first Open, but I'm trying to win. I feel like my game suited The Masters and I felt like I had a good chance to win there and I was close. I had a chance on Sunday, and here I feel like I have most all the shots, it's just a matter of managing my emotions and my game and everything else, and I've done a good job of that the last two days. I've done a better job of that than I have playing. My demeanor has been really good the last two days."
Eduardo Romero (66): "I'm very happy. I played very solid today. I feel very good for the weekend."
Fredrik Jacobson (67): "In the beginning I wasn't playing great. I made a lot of saves and I tried to hang in there, and coming after the turn I started to give myself a lot of chances, and after a while they started to drop. A lucky bounce on the par 3 helped me for another birdie. I just got better and better, I think."
Stephen Leaney (68): "I came here expecting to play well, and that's what's happened. I didn't think the scores would be quite this low, but the course set up is very fair. I'm not surprised I'm there, but I hope I can keep the same sort of mental side of my game going for the weekend."
Darren Clarke (69): "I've left a lot of shots out there. One under at halfway in a US Open is pretty good, but Jim (Furyk) is playing a slightly different course to the rest of us. I've been attacking the course in the way I said I would and it's been fun because Phil does it all the time. I've just got to keep hitting the ball the way I am and convert more of the chances I'm giving myself."
Justin Leonard (70): "I didn't play very well today, so I'm going to go work on that right now and hopefully come out tomorrow and hit the ball a little bit better. I definitely earned whatever I got today."
Padraig Harrington (72): "I was not hitting it great, but I managed to keep it under control until my putting went on the last nine holes. By the end I didn't know where it was going to go. I was trying to limit the damage and tee to green I did. But I missed four chances for birdies and two par putts as well."
Tom Watson (72): "I didn't get anything going, so the emotion wasn't quite as strong as it was
yesterday. It was more of a struggle - I was just treading water."
Brian Davis (72): "I played well, but didn't hole the putts. That was the key."
