US OPEN PROFILE
Conventional wisdom says it's the US Open out of all the Majors which suits Montgomerie's game best. His laser-like consistency from tee to green has been the hallmark of the Scot over the years but he is really struggling at the moment. It is taking time for him to get used to an equipment change and a missed cut at the British Masters left him bemoaning the fact that he can't hit the ball properly at present. This should be music to the ears of the American galleries who do not need any encouragement when it comes to giving big Colin a hard time - and a hard time is what he looks in for unless he can find a cure for his woes between now and Thursday.
