US OPEN PROFILE
Will he ever rid himself of the dreaded Best Player Not To Have Won A Major tag? Certainly not this week if his current form is anything to go by. The US Open places a premium on accuracy with the rough so penal and as Mickelson languishes near the foot of the Driving Accuracy statistics, his prospects do not look great. But it is dangerous to write off a player with his amount of talent who is capable of quite phenomenal stretches of scoring which makes the game look simple. A missed cut last week was indicative of a player not totally at ease and a few tweaks here and there will be needed if he is to get into contention. This will not be the place though to try and experiment in a bid to re-discover lost form.
