US OPEN PROFILE
Davis Love III has still to add to the 1997 USPGA Championsip as far as Major tournaments go but his form from 2003 suggests that could change sooner rather than later. The highlight of three wins so far this season was his six-shot demolition job in the Players Championship with a closing round of 64 that was almost perfection. There are few better to watch when in full flow and Love can produce quite breathtaking golf with a mixture of phenomenal power and delicate touch. He has an aggressive putting style that yields days where he will hole everything - and sometimes very little. He has a mixed record in this event but there seems no real reason why he should not be in the thick of the action come Sunday afternoon. He played at the weather-hit FBR Capital Open and the disruption from that will mean his final build-up will not have been ideal.
