US OPEN PROFILE
Furyk's record in this event in recent years is surprisingly moderate considering it should play to his strengths. He hits lots of fairways, finds plenty of greens and sinks the putts yet he has fared no better than 60th since 2000. The current venue might see a better showing as it is not a course that requires great power from the tee - the one area of Furyk's game that has always been lacking. A regular winner on Tour, he is still seeking that first Major title and his current form suggests he should give himself every chance of getting in position. He fell away over the weekend at the Memorial but it is hard to fault his 2003 to date as he racks up the top-10 returns. The compenents are in place for a big showing this week.
