Of the two Opens on the Majors rosta, this is the one less likely to produce a Parnevik win. While the Swede is a perennial contender in the British Open, he hasn't ever threatened the top of the leaderboard in the US Open. His record isn't bad with two top 20s in five starts but the wise money on Parnevik is saved until the third week in July. Also counting against Parnevik is a rather patchy record in 2002. Apart from a second place at the BellSouth Classic he's never looked like adding to his tally of five US Tour wins and his last two starts have seen him withdraw from the Memorial after an opening 77 and miss the cut at last week's Buick Classic. It suggests he won't be a factor but given his liking for the unorthodox he could come up with a surprise.
