After several seasons of consistent excellence, Duval has become a complete enigma. For the last couple of years he's been a constant disappointment and yet in amongst the missed cuts and three-putts he produced a wonderful performance to land the British Open - his first Major - at Royal Lytham last year. If he can click into top gear again then he has the patience and calm demeanour to do well in a US Open and his record of three top tens and a top 20 in the last four years is encouraging. It just remains to be seen which Duval turns up.
