US OPEN PROFILE

If Woods repeats the performance that saw him win the 2000 US Open at Pebble Beach by a staggering 15 shots then he will land the second leg of the Grand Slam this week. And judging by the way his rivals collapsed behind at the US Masters, his prohibitive odds shouldn't put his backers off. However, he's managed only one other top ten in other six US Opens so there may be hope for his rivals. His sometimes wayward tee-shots can catch him out in this major and he's only 81st in driving accuracy this year. Nevertheless Woods believes he's starting to hit the ball as well as he did in the summer of 2000 when he swept the last three Majors so he's clearly the man to beat.
