 US MASTERS QUOTES

Day Four - April 8

Zach Johnson (69): "It is amazing. It is amazing what God can do. I believe in myself but every now and then you miss a putt and you can get down on yourself but I've had a lot of support. I tried to be non-emotional out there - that was one of my goals. I just tried to stay in the present and go through my processes. I knew I could win on the major scene. I felt everything was ready and I prepared very hard."

Retief Goosen (69): "I played very solid on the front nine, and on the back nine I played solid, too. I just couldn't make a putt. I hit a couple of good shots coming in. On 15 my third, I thought it was good and just bounced through. On 16, somehow the ball stayed on that bank. Overall, I'm very happy. Obviously I gave myself a chance again, but I would like to one year maybe go a little bit further."

Rory Sabbatini (69): "Obviously it's a very special moment. My history in majors has been far from anything spectacular. One of my goals the past year has been to improve on my performance in the majors. So obviously this is a great start to the year and hopefully something to build on. Obviously being here at the Masters and, you know, in the renowned company that we're in, to be able to play the way that I did, it's just an amazing feeling."

Tiger Woods (72): "Well, this one's not disappointing today. I threw this tournament away on two days when I had two good rounds and I went bogey, bogey. So four bogeys in the last two holes basically cost me the tournament. This golf course was playing very difficult. You just had to keep plodding along, give yourself as many good chances you possibly could on birdies. Because they're very hard to come by."

Justin Rose (73): "(on 17) I haven't driven the ball well on that hole all week. I really surprised myself with how calm I felt and how in control of my emotions I felt. I just believed all day that I was going to do something special and I fancied myself down the stretch, but the 17th cost me this week. I really learned a lot about myself today and I really feel I have what it takes to go on and win majors from here."

Padraig Harrington (73): "I will walk away from this knowing I have a game capable of winning the Masters, so that is a positive note for me. At the 15th I hit a great second shot straight down the pin. It looked like it could have been anywhere and as it turned out it was in the water. But that's the Masters for you and hopefully sometime that will go in my favour."

Jerry Kelly (70): "Wow, it's huge. Still can't believe it. First top-10 in a Major. A long time coming. It has put me in a different league. Have you ever seen me let loose after that much pressure? I've had so much trouble hitting my utility on the range. I hit it four times today. Hooked it on range. Used it on 13."

David Toms (72): "It was a good round today. I shot even par on a Sunday at the Masters. So I'm pretty pleased. Maybe after number 10 I was still in it because the leaders were at 2-over and nobody had made the big move. At that point I figured I still had a chance. But I let it slip away when I bogeyed 11 and 12."

Vaughn Taylor (75): "Today was a struggle. Didn't putt good at all. Didn't feel comfortable. I learned a lot. You always want to get off to a good start and make some putts."

Paul Casey (71): "I was happy with the way I played until the end there. It was a disappointing week. One of those where it could have been or should have been better. There was a lot of really good golf in there at times, but too many mistakes. That's been the story pretty much all year."

Phil Mickelson (77): "Even after I made triple on the first I felt like if I could get back to even by the turn I had a chance. When it's playing hard and fast like this, it sets up perfectly for guys like that (Zach Johnson, David Toms, Jerry Kelly.) I didn't feel like I played that well, or certainly not like I wanted. I'll take a couple of weeks off and get ready for the TPC and for the US Open."
