Few will begrudge Mickelson's victory in this event 12 months ago as the amiable left-hander finally put to bed once and for all the tag of best player to never win a Major. He traded blows with Ernie Els on a thrilling final day and his reaction to the 12 foot putt he holed on the 72nd green highlighted just what it meant to a man who generally keeps his emotions well under control.
