US MASTERS PROFILE
Few will begrudge Mickelson's victory in this event 12 months ago as the amiable left-hander finally put to bed once and for all the tag of best player to never win a Major. He traded blows with Ernie Els on a thrilling final day and his reaction to the 12 foot putt he holed on the 72nd green highlighted just what it meant to a man who generally keeps his emotions well under control. He has hit the ground running again in 2005 with back-to-back wins in Phoenix and at Pebble Beach and you can be sure that his preparations for these four days will be second to none - expect a stern defence.
