US MASTERS PROFILE
The Canadian finally realised his potential by winning last year's US Masters - a surprise in some quarters given his lack of real length off the tee. But the left-hander proved how important the short game is at Augusta as he holed a series of crucial putts before beating Len Mattiace in a play-off. Weir also finished tied third in the 2003 US Open so, with his unflappable temperament, he looks like being a Major contender for years to come. He's again looked good in 2004 and successfully defended his Nissan Open crown two months ago - a good omen for this week?
