US MASTERS PROFILE
Followers of the sport predicted it would not be long before Chad Campbell hit the headlines and he did exactly that with a memorable 2003. He really caught the imagination with his fearless final-round pursuit of the PGA Championship title last August, only to be denied at the death by Shaun Micheel. It was no real great surprise then to see him win the prestigious Tour Championship by three shots after a scintillating third round of 61 put him in pole position. 2004 could be at least as good judged by the way he made up a four-shot deficit over the closing 18 holes to win the Bay Hill Invitational by six. His rate of improvement suggests he is more than capable of claiming Major honours before the year is out.
