Third round:
Jeff Maggert (66): "Obviously this is a position you dream about going into the final round on Sunday. It's been a struggle for the last couple of years but I came out with a new attitude this year and I'm just trying to get better each week. I've really worked on my short game and it's really shown this week."
Tiger Woods (66): "This tournament we all know anything can happen on the back nine, you just have to get yourself in position. Even four back that's not inconceivable. It makes me assured that I've done it here before. I know how to win a major championship and that's something that means a lot."
Mike Weir (75): "My round was a little disappointing today. I didn't play that particularly poorly, but my iron shots were a little off. That caused me some problems. And I put myself on the wrong side of the hole. I'm still in the last group tomorrow, still have a great chance to win tomorrow if I play a really solid round and I'm really looking forward to it."
Second round:
Paul Lawrie (72): "I bogeyed three holes last night so the stoppage came just in time. Making the cut was not the target, you have to aim as high as you can. I'm a better player now than when I won the Open, it took me a couple of years to get back into the normal swing of things but I feel I'm getting to where I want to be."
Tiger Woods (73): "We pretty much knew what the number was going to be (for the cut). I wasn't worried with three holes to go but it all came down to the last. But I'm in, and if I can get to even par at the end of the day I will be right in it. Conditions are getting tougher which is good for the guys trying to make a move. If you get it going on this course you can shoot a solid round but it's tough to keep moving away when you're leading. I know, I've been there."
Darren Clarke (76): "I struggled this morning, made a few bad swings, but hung in there and it was good to get one back on 17. Augusta doesn't give you anything. I was fortunate to play well and shoot 66 yesterday, today I didn't play so well but I'm second going into the final 36 holes. If I can find the swing from yesterday who knows what could happen. I'll give it my best shot. Overall I'm not too disappointed."
Colin Montgomerie (76): "I'm disappointed but I've missed the cut here before and it didn't hurt me."
