Despite an early-season win in Phoenix, Singh's build-up to the Masters has been interrupted by a hip injury which has caused a succession of withdrawals from his build-up events. But if the Fijian can get a clean bill of health, he's a strong contender to capture a second green jacket. His victory at Augusta came three years ago after he held off Ernie Els to win by three shots. It gave him a second major success after winning the USPGA Championship at Sahalee in 1998 and was reward for the efforts that have given him the reputation as one of the hardest workers in the game. His record at Augusta before that was mediocre but he showed his victory was no fluke by throwing down another serious challenge last year. He led at halfway after a second round 65 and was Tiger's last challenger down the stretch before blowing up with a nine at the 15th.
