US MASTERS PROFILE
After a frosty relationship with Augusta on his first few visits, Monty has warmed to the Masters after recording top 20 finishes in four of the last five years. He can't match that consistency in any of the other three majors despite conventional wisdom saying it's the US Open which suits his game best. Unlike previous years, Monty has spent the first few months of the season playing in America which should mean he's nicely acclimatised. However, things haven't gone to plan due to a string of missed cuts. And instead of playing the BellSouth Classic last week, Monty preferred to recharge his batteries and visit relatives in Alabama. But that string of failures must have knocked his confidence and it would be a surprise if Monty could mount a serious challenge. His bid to land that elusive first major will surely have to wait until later in the year.
