AUGUSTA GIVES PLENTY BACK

By Mark Garrod, PA Sport Golf Correspondent

Over the past five years more than £10million has been donated to golf and the local community by Augusta National Golf Club.

Last year the sum was again around £2million, with around £640,000 going to America's First Tee initiative set up to provide affordable access to everyone who otherwise might not have an opportunity to play golf.

A similar figure was given to the Augusta-based CSRA Community Foundation, which evaluates and then selects worthwhile Augusta area charities to receive contributions.

A further 500,000 dollars (around £320,000) was awarded to Tiger Woods' own charity, the Tiger Woods Foundation, and 100,000 dollars (around £64,000) to the September 11 Fund, while others receiving significant contributions were the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, US Tour, United States Golf Association, PGA of America and Ladies' Professional Golf Association.
