Vijay Singh (65): "I was not thinking about a number, but my wife asked me last night what would be a good score and I said 68.

"I feel great about a 65. I didn't even know about the (inward) 30 until I was signing the card.

"I feel like I'm playing a lot better than when I won two years ago. I think I'm a much better player and that itself should carry me through if I'm playing the same way."

Nick Faldo (67): "The course was very borderline for being playable, but after getting that flying start (four birdies in five holes) I plugged away, made some great saves, then picked up those birdies on the 13th and 15th.

"I'm worn out. I'm going back to have another breakfast now and then start again."

Padraig Harrington (70): "You would think a green jacket would suit an Irishman, but we will have to wait and see."

Sergio Garcia (71): "I just need to get my thoughts straight now and play a good weekend. "I want this as badly as anyone else, but it's the same old thing - be as patient as you can be and try to play the best you can."

Michael Hoey (73): "I tried hard all week and have taken a lot out of myself. It's been a great week, but I would have liked to make the cut."
