US MASTERS PROFILE
This is the 22-year-old Howell's first start in the US Masters but he already holds a special affection for the tournament. The youngster was born a stone's throw from Augusta National and went round in 79 when only 10 years old. "I've made it clear that's the one tournament I would want to win over any other tournament in the world," says Howell. "I consider Augusta National hallowed ground." Despite his lean frame Howell blasts the ball prodigious distances so he should certainly enjoy launching it off the tee. But whether his short game is quite sharp enough yet to win a green jacket is a major doubt. Nevertheless he should still be able to make some sort of impact this week having already bagged three top six finishes on Tour this year. He looks a surefire winner of big events over the coming few seasons even if the 2002 Masters may just have come a bit too soon for him.
